Renewal Application

The Health Professions Act requires that all regulated chiropractors renew their practice permit annually with the College of Chiropractors of Alberta. Here’s what you need to know to renew your practice permit on time.

Annual renewal is open from the first Wednesday in May to June 17. Successful completion of renewal provides a regulated chiropractor a practice permit effective July 1-June 30.

There are two phases of renewal:

Phase 1

  • Conditional requirements reporting is due May 31.
    • This applies to those who have registration in another jurisdiction or profession or
    • Those who have discipline, complaints or criminal charges/convictions to report to CCOA.

    • Once the requirements above are processed and reflected in your registrant portal, you will be able to enter the renewal application process which is open the first Wednesday in May-June 17.

Phase 2

By June 17, complete your renewal application requirements, which includes:

  • Completion of online renewal forms,
  • Declaration of active practice at the time of renewal,
  • Declaration of completion of all continuing competence requirements,
  • Payment of annual dues and fees (if applicable) by credit card,
  • Payment of all invoices.

Practice permits that are not renewed on time will expire on June 30, resulting in a suspension beginning July 1.

Not planning to renew? You must apply to change your status by June 15

If you are not planning to renew your permit because you are retiring, taking a temporary leave from practice or leaving Alberta, you must change your status to non-practicing by June 15. For more information, please visit Changing registration status.
